How to use this template well

Name the complete assembly

A proposal is easier to compare when underlayment, vents, flashing, starter, ridge materials, and disposal are explicit rather than buried in a shingle description.

Treat concealed damage as a decision

State the included decking amount, the additional unit price, and who may approve extra work after tear-off.

Keep insurance language accurate

Do not imply carrier approval, coverage, or code requirements unless verified. Separate the contractor proposal from insurance claim decisions.

The customer sees what is included from tear-off through cleanup, while production receives the exact system and options that were accepted.

Frequently asked questions

What belongs in a roofing proposal?

Include inspection context, measured scope, tear-off, decking assumptions, roofing system components, ventilation and flashing, cleanup, exclusions, warranties, schedule assumptions, payment terms, and acceptance.

How should a roofing proposal handle bad decking?

Use an included allowance or clearly stated unit price, explain when hidden damage can be confirmed, and require documented approval before work exceeds the accepted scope.

Is a roofing proposal the same as an insurance estimate?

No. A contractor proposal defines the work and commercial terms offered to the customer. Insurance coverage and claim valuation are separate decisions.
